The Purge
In the opening scene of The Purge it is not what you would normally expect for an opening scene as it is done by a CTV camera filming people getting attacked, in some sort of way it does represent violence and in some horror film it does contain violence. The fact that the screen is CTV footage is clever it shows you from an audience perspective that you can catch crime on CTV and that i can be dangerous going out in evening by yourself. The Purge is about a wealthy family held hostage for harboring the target of a murderous syndicate during the purge, a 12 hour period in which any and all crime is legalized. The Purge is a 2013 American social science fiction horror film written and directed by James DeMonaco. In the opening you can't really tell who the characters are as it is on CTV so you can't really tell who are the main characters until the film has properly started. The audience may feel confused about the outcome of the opening scene but as the film continues it may be more understanding when its off the CTV footage. the background and location is in the street as is dark with lights and you can see the time and date on the screen from when this violence is occurring.
The sound of in the opening is very classically which a screechy violin twist to it it makes you feel curious and intense as it makes the audience feel like you are witnessing some awful stuff which can be hurtful to some people. The body language in the opening scene is seen to be violent as people are getting seriously hurt this gives a negative effect towards the audience as it can show that this sort of thing can happen in real life so it is giving a warning to the audience to be careful when going out in the dark and be weary of any weird social behavior in the area that you are surrounding.

In the opening the camera shot is obviously in CTV so it is seen as video footage. Video footage is usually seen as a high shot usually taking a shot of people from a high point of view this can show all of the location and really capture the body language and the action and behavior that is going on in the shot, This again shows the audience that the whole action that is going on in this footage from the high angle shot. Overall The Purge is an ideal horror film as it shows the audience the violence and gore that is portrait in the film and makes everyone feel really intense and fearful for the people who are getting attack by the people as they have made the terrorism legal in this film and shows the audience that if terrorism was legal it can lead to nasty things.
